On the day that our Nation marks the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, closer to home the Academical community remembers those brave former pupils who gave the ultimate sacrifice to free Europe from the tyranny of Nazi Germany.
“The Glasgow Academical Club today proudly commemorates the selfless and costly sacrifice of the 168 Academicals who died in service of King and Country,” said Glasgow Academical Club President Robin Duff.
“We as a community suffered many losses in World War I – more than any other UK independent school – but it is often forgotten that we lost many in World War Two. It is fitting that they are commemorated on the specific WWII memorial in our senior school to this present day. They will never be forgotten.”
