An enthusiastic audience of Academicals, past and present, along with friends of the club, parents, and faculty, gathered at Cargill Hall on Friday 8th of November, for the The Glasgow Academical Club Dinner.
The evening kicked off with a warm and energetic welcome from the school’s award-winning pipe band, setting the tone for a memorable event.
Hosted by Club President Robin Duff (Class of 1990), the event served as a celebration of the thriving Academical community, offering a unique opportunity for members to reconnect, network, and celebrate their shared history.
The highlight of the evening was an address from renowned publisher and broadcaster Andrew Neil, who flew in directly from the US Election in Washington to join the gathering.
In his keynote speech, Andrew offered a fascinating blend of humour, astute political commentary, and personal anecdotes, reflecting on his upbringing in Scotland and how his education influenced his illustrious career in journalism and broadcasting.
The evening also included a fundraising effort to support the Alzheimer’s Research UK charity raising vital monies for this important cause with over £3771 raised on the evening.
It was an inspiring and enjoyable evening for all, reaffirming the strength and camaraderie of the Academical community.
